The humble beginnings of Grey Matter go a little like this... So a long, long time ago, Adam used to live in Louisville. He moved in 2001 (The summer after our freshman year). So sometime in June I was up there for the week and he told me to bring up my guitar. At the time I'd been playing for like a year and a half and he just bought his own guitar. But anyway, one night while I was up there it was real late, like four o' clock in the morning and we were both up in his room messing around on our guitars. While we were doing this, Adam played a riff he had come up with, so we spent the whole night writing this song. Coincidentally the song was christened Four O' Clock. The funny thing was, like most things that happen late at night, when you wake up in the morning they aren't as cool as you remember. So we had this song that completely and totally clashed with all of the other parts that were going on at the same time. But hey, every band starts somewhere right? This song really got us thinking and we started devising huge plans for our band. But we continued to work on our music even though we live in two different cities, which is really hard because everything has to be done either over the phone or through the internet and the two of us really need to be in the same room to get anything accomplished. So finally Adam came back down to Louisville in July of 2002 and we had a week long intensive recording session. Going into it our hopes were to get our debut CD, Cerebra, completed, but our plans were set back yet again. Despite the setback, we did record all of the tracks on our acoustic EP entitled Cerebra Unplugged.
